William Whitla


 

 

William James (Billy) Whitla passed away in Las Vegas, Nev., on Oct. 13, 2021, at the age of 55. He was born Jan. 21, 1966, in Los Angeles, Calif., to parents William

R. and Barbara L. (nee Hummel) Whitla.

He is survived by his son, Chaz M. Whitla; sister, Brenda M. Whitla-Pinto; brother-in-law, Clyde J. Pinto; and niece, Carmen F. Pinto. He also leaves behind extended family and friends in California including Melissa Miller, the Salstrand family, and in Louisiana including Sam, Emmett and Ray Hummel and from Nevada including the Panetti Family and Susannah Kosmos.

William was admired for his keen intelligence, quick wit, gift of gab and infectious laugh. He had many talents including carpentry, manicuring, acting and artwork.

He ran the family business, a feed store, from a young age and later when on to manage a nail salon. William had two businesses of his own; a baseball card shop in Southern California and was a co-owner of a handyman service in Oakhurst, Calif.

Most of all, William was a devoted father, stay-at-home dad and was most proud of raising his son, Chaz.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

There will be a service for William on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at Our Lady of the Sierra Catholic Church, 40180 Indian Springs Road, Oakhurst. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. with a mass at 10.
