When I was a kid the virus that terrified us was polio. We didn’t know exactly how you caught it, there was no treatment and no cure. Not everybody infected became seriously ill, but for many — my friend Ann and Mike who is now my brother in law —it messed up their entire lives. Some kids just had leg braces, but some still live in iron lungs. Some died. Deja vu for me these days as I read about Coronavirus.
