Wayne A. Collier of Mariposa died on Aug. 23, 2020, at the age of 85.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1935 in Phoenix, Ariz. He died at the Merced Anberry Trans Care Center.
Wayne had lived in Mariposa for 42 years. He was self-employed in the floor covering business.
He was preceded in death by his father, St. Elmo Emmett “Bud” Collier in 1998; mother, Ophelia Elkins Collier; two sisters; one brother; and a son, Bradley Collier.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole I. Collier; children Clyde Wayne Collier of Durango, Colo., Johnnie Collier of Oklahoma, Carolyn Guccione of Mara Loma, Calif., Tony Collier of California, Becky ( Jim) Eagan of Auburn, Wash., and Allan Collier of Midpines; brothers Daniel Collier of Mariposa and Steven Collier of Rock Hill, S.C.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He is also survived by stepchildren Katherin Balles of Bremerton, Wash., Karen Vanderkarr (Richard) of Rainier, Wash., and Kristine Balles-Berg of Auburn, Wash.
Wayne enjoyed fishing and going out to the desert and riding motorcycles.
He was a wonderful man, loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
There were no services, at his request. Internment is in the Mariposa Cemetery.
