Wanda Jane Knotts Castle passed away in hospice on Jan. 4, 2022, in San Luis Obispo.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son, David Dye, and her husband, Walter Castle. Both were former employees of the National Park Service in Yosemite National Park.
Wanda is survived by her second son, Glenn Dye; two sisters, Donna Mackie and Joy Hanek; and two brothers, Fritz and Patrick Knotts. Wanda has many surviving nephews and nieces, all of whom loved and respected her.
She was born in Hobbs, N.M., on Nov. 30, 1947. She moved to California in the mid-sixties and worked for the Mariposa Gazette and then for the National Park Service in Yosemite. Wanda was admired and respected by both her friends and coworkers.
No services are planned for Wanda, however, she loved and cared for the animals in her life. Donations to the Mariposa County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would be her wish.
