Victoria Agnes Ryder left her family and friends with a smile never to be forgotten.
Her precious heart had given her a full life of 83 years, but on June 27, 2020 that loving heart allowed her to go on to her Heavenly Father.
She was always lighting up our lives with her zest for life and her voice of an angel. Her brilliant smile and loving ways will remain deep in the hearts of her husband Philip Ryder; brother, Will Collins; sister Elizabeth Stanley; five children, David, Mirriam, Daniel, Donald and Deborah; step-daughters Terese, Carrie and Kelly; and her niece Robyn Stanley. She loved and adored her 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, great niece and nephew and her daughters and sons in law: Mitzi, Samantha and Ken, David, Scott and Jim.
Victoria (Tory) was born to Irene & George Collins in Franklin, N.J., on May 29, 1937. Her life would take her to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where her father worked for Aramco, which provided travels abroad in Europe with her sister Betty and brother Will.
Studying voice from the age of 10, she perfected her soprano gift, garnering her acceptance at the age of 19 to Juilliard School of New York but declined to begin her family. Lucky us!
Mariposa became her home in 1974 from which she and her husband Philip would later retire to New Mexico. She returned to California to visit family often making many more memories.
Her love of singing never stopped as many remember from her years in Mariposa as she would be asked to sing at public gatherings, perform in local operas and always graced all in attendance when she would sing in church. She would bring a tear to the eye every time she sang “In the Garden.”
We find giving gratitude for the life we had with her to be the best way to honor her.
