Two major Park fires are now 85 percent contained




After two months, a major fire in Yosemite National Park is now 85 percent contained.
A second fire, now six weeks old, is also 85 percent contained.
According to the National Park Service, the Empire Fire, which was discovered on Aug. 1, has burned 6,340 acres. It is located a mile east of the Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area and three-fourths of a mile south of Glacier Point Road.
