The board of directors of the Yosemite-Mariposa Tourism Board voted overwhelmingly last week to increase the tax charged on lodging.
By an 11-1 vote, the board approved a one-half percent increase in the TBID tax, which is the Tourism Business Improvement District. When it goes into effect, there will be a 13.5 percent total tax charged on rooms — the highest in the region. That also includes a 12 percent transient occupancy tax (TOT), which was just increased last year.
