During Lent many Christians use this period of repentance and self-reflection to practice some sort of spiritual discipline. This year, our church is engaged in a Lenten exercise to “Count Our Blessings.”
Each day we consciously count something that most of us take for granted. One day we count the light bulbs in our houses.
I have done this exercise in other churches. One year a participant, who had an exquisitely landscaped yard, asked, “Do the ones outside count too?”...
