Though improved from a year ago, Mariposa County still remains low when it comes to smoking cessation and other related issues. The state of California, though, is doing quite well, getting an overall “A” grade. Submitted photo

Ginnie Day knows as well as anyone the harmful effects of tobacco.

Day grew up seeing her parents smoke, and she was a smoker as a young adult.

Eventually, her father passed away from lung cancer. That led to Day giving up smoking for good.
