State could force hand of county on issue of pot

A bill is now moving through the legislature in Sacramento that could potentially bring a marijuana shop to Mariposa County.
Assembly Bill 1356 would require cities and counties in which the majority of the voters approved Proposition 64 to allow a certain number of shops based on a formula.
The legislation indicates that locally, only one would likely be required. In addition, depending on how the legislation ends up in its final form, it could be a medical marijuana shop and not recreational.
