Social Security income tops $59 million in Mariposa County




Mariposa County’s personal income is greatly dependent on the Social Security checks that more than 26 percent of the population receives each month. The figures were released by the Center for Rural Strategies (CRS) last week.
The amount is so staggering, in fact, that nearly 10 percent of all personal income in Mariposa County comes from Social Security. If those residents didn’t receive their monthly payments, the county would lose $59.5 million a year.
