Rural utility rates point of consternation

Some rates will skyrocket, others won’t change at all

On paper, it seems pretty simple.
In reality, it’s anything but simple.
But after a marathon session last week of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors, what became reality is that some residents in rural areas are going to see their utility rates skyrocket while others are not going to change.
At issue were water and wastewater rates in various rural communities, including Coulterville, Lake Don Pedro, Yosemite West and Mariposa Pines.
