Eldon was born on Jan. 24, 1930 in Merced, Calif., to his parents Mary Foster and Euless Minor. He was one of seven children. He graduated from Merced High School in 1948.
He held several jobs before opening his own business, Ace Salvage & Supply, in 1959 where he worked for 25 years.
Eldon married Juanita “Toby” Yulich on Dec. 25, 1948, and had two children. After 35 years of marriage they amicably divorced. He found love again and spent his later years with Joan Hanson until she passed away in January 2008.
He was a long-time race car enthusiast. He was the state stock car champion in 1953. He raced, flagged and towed cars at the Merced Speedway for over 20 years. He attended many NASCAR races all over the nation. He also loved to go to the casino with friends and family.
Eldon is survived by his two children, Mike (Fran) Minor and Debbie (Ron) Johnson; three grandchildren, Lesa (Bryan) Hughes, Ron (Renee) Johnson, and Lori (Pike) Verceles. He had seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Wilsons Funeral Home (525 W. 20th Street Merced.) A viewing will start at 10 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m.; with a graveside service to immediately follow at the Merced District Cemetery.
