Rain brings cooler weather but no end to local fire season





Last weekend’s rain was a welcome respite from hot temperatures, but it did little to reduce fire danger in the foothills.
Mariposa received 1.12 inches of rain during the storm that pelted the town Saturday evening and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.
Coulterville received 1.4 inches of rain, which was the highest storm amount recorded across “interior Central California,” the weather service said.
