The Kids First organization has been making various donations to support local youth. Above left, Kids First funded Mariposa Elementary teacher Christina Packard $689 to purchase a class set of five novels. Her students will read and discuss each of these books in small group discussions. Mary Lee Moore, teacher on special assignment (left) presented her with the check. Top right, teacher Luba Breish (right) received a check for $485 from Kids First board member Lori Ritter to purchase 20 Google viewers so that her students can take virtual tours of historical sites and explore history in a new and exciting way. At left, Kids First funded $700 for a unique project of high school teacher Stephanie Bobman called “The Civil Right Movement through Picture Books.” Her students will be asked to create research questions, conduct research and prepare a lesson based on the picture book they are assigned. New board member Ritter (right) presented her with the check. Kids First is a nonprofit organization which helps local teachers with funding for special classroom projects.
