Last week, it was announced that Gov. Gavin Newsom had issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in California because of the upcoming wildfire season.
What this did was allocate funding to many projects around the state which are aimed at preventing the spread of fires. There are many other aspects, as well, such as adding 13 new engines (and, importantly, matching crews) focused on measures to prevent fires.
