Popke back in court as trial date is now set for March 8

A Mariposa man accused of shooting at a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office deputy will now go to trial in March of next year.
Douglas Popke, 69, made an appearance last week in Mariposa County Superior Court.
Popke has been in jail under $600,000 bond since August 2020, charged with assault with a firearm, attempted first-degree murder along with enhancements of those being against a peace officer. He is accused of firing his gun at Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jose Garcia. The incident...
