Jail Booking Report

Here are some of the highlights from the recent booking reports at the Mariposa County Jail. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

March 16 – Salvador Daniel Tafoya, 40, Modesto, was arrested for DUI.

March 17 – Daniel Eric Griffen, 23, Stockton, was arrested for having a loaded concealed weapon.

March 18 – Shawn Arlin Donley, 43, Ahwahnee, was arrested for writing false checks, possessing false checks, conspiracy and forgery.

March 19 – No bookings.

March 20 – Michael Edward Womack, 41, Merced, was arrested for possessing unlawful paraphernalia and failure to appear after a written promise.

March 21 – No bookings.

March 22 – No bookings.

Sheriff’s Daily Log

March 16 – Petty theft was reported on Chowchilla Mountain Road in Mariposa. • There was a suspicious person on Highway 49 North in Mariposa. • Three attacking dogs were reported on Buckeye Road in Mariposa. • There were disabled vehicles reported on Highway 41 in Fishcamp, Dexter Road in Coulterville and on Highway 49 South in Mariposa. • Traffic accidents were reported on Greeley Hill Road in Greeley Hill, Highway 41 in Fish Camp and both Highway 49 North and Highway 49 South in Mariposa. • A vehicle went over an embankment on Highway 49 North, vehicles slid off the road on Darrah Road and on Highway 41 and vehicles were blocking Watt Road Extension and Highway 40 South, all in Mariposa. • An RV was stuck on Greeley Hill Road in Greeley Hill. • A large oak was down on Highway 140 and on Oak Road, both in Midpines and trees were blocking the road on Highway 140, Mt. Bullion Cut Off, Converse, Scott, Cole, Carleton, Tip Top and Old Toll roads, all in Mariposa. • Two loose cows were on Old Highway in Mariposa. • There were multiple issues on East Westfall Road in Mariposa. • A possible missing pit mix was reported on Highway 140 in Mariposa. • There was a rock slide on Highway 49 North in Greeley Hill. • Power lines were on Colorado Road in Midpines. • Power was out on Ben Hur in Mariposa. • Suspicious circumstances were reported on Park Lane in Coulterville.

March 17 – Downed power lines were reported on Glacier Point in Mariposa and on Colorado Road in Midpines. • There was a downed tree in the road on Jerseydale Road in Mariposa. • An abandoned vehicle was reported on Wass Road in Mariposa. • The smell of propane was reported on 6th and Jones Streets in Mariposa. • Petty theft was reported on Coakley Circle in Mariposa. • A suspicious person was reported at the Masonic Lodge in Mariposa. • There was an injured cat on Pine Street in Coulterville. • Deputies investigated a report of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child on Colorado Road in Midpines. • Attempted child cruelty was reported on Tip Top Road in Mariposa. • There was a power outage on Spaulding Road in Mariposa. • Hail was reported on Highway 140 in Midpines. • There was a fire reported behind Pioneer Market in Mariposa. • There was a report of a vehicle roll over on East Whitlock Road in Mariposa. • Suspicious circumstances were reported on Gunther and Smith roads, both in Mariposa and at the Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal. • Dogs were reported as barking on Violetta Way in Coulterville. • A bull was on Merced Falls Road in Lake Don Pedro. • Petty theft was reported at the Monarch Lodge in Mariposa.

March 18 – Suspicious circumstances were reported on Highway 49 North in Mariposa. • Vandalism was reported on Piney Creek Road in Mariposa. • There was a dog vs. dog incident on Buckeye Road in Mariposa. • A suspicious person was reported at Yosemite Bank in Mariposa. • There was a smoldering power pole on Jackass Ridge Road in Greeley Hill. • Two black cows were on Old Highway in Mariposa. • Someone was bitten by a cat on Feliciana Mountain Road in Mariposa. • There was a large boulder on southbound Highway 41 in Mariposa.

March 19 – A black cow and calf were blocking Old Highway in Mariposa. • Dogs were reported as missing on Monte Vista Lane in Mariposa. • Suspicious circumstances were reported on Highway 49 South in Mariposa. • There was a sick rabbit on Meadow Lane in Mariposa. • There were pedestrians on Darrah Road in Mariposa. • A cat scratch was reported on Park Circle in Coulterville. • There was a transient issue at Yosemite Bank in Mariposa. • There was a traffic accident on Highway 140 in Mariposa.

March 20 – Loose horses were reported on Oakridge Road in Coulterville. • There was a report of threats on Coakley Circle in Mariposa. • Deputies followed up on a cat bite on Feliciana Mountain Road in Mariposa. • Civil issues were reported on Chowchilla Mountain Road in Mariposa. • There was a dogs vs. chickens issue on Colorado Road in Mariposa. • Someone had a cat inquiry on Fournier Road in Mariposa. • There was an injured dog on Highway 132 in Coulterville. • Fraud was reported on 10th Street in Mariposa. • There was a dog vs. coyote incident on Highway 132 in Lake Don Pedro. • Spousal battery was reported on Hornitos Road in Catheys Valley. • Someone had raccoon issues on Indian Peak Road in Mariposa. • There was a landlord/ tenant issue on Carleton Road in Mariposa. • Grand theft was reported on Highway 49 North in Mariposa. • There were multiple issues on Highway 132 in Coulterville. • Loose dogs were on someone’s property on Ganns Corral Road in Mariposa. • There was a cow on Granite Springs Road in Coulterville. • A steer was missing on Darrah Road in Mariposa. • There was a domestic dispute on Allred Road in Mariposa. • Animal abuse was reported on St. Andrews Road in Mariposa.

March 21 – There was a suspicious person on Highway 49 North, and suspicious circumstances reported on both St. Andrews and Dexter roads in Mariposa. • Someone had dog issues on Highway 49 South in Mariposa. • Property was found both at Yosemite Liquor and on highway 49 North, both in Mariposa. • Someone had shooting questions on Ridge Top Road Mariposa. • There was a domestic dispute on Dogtown Road in Mariposa. • A burn pile was reported on Hirsch Road in Mariposa.

March 22 – Suspicious circumstances were reported on Highway 49 North in Mariposa, suspicious people were reported on Terrace View Lane, and on Hospital Road, both in Mariposa and on Equine Trails in Coulterville, and a suspicious vehicle was reported on Highway 49 North in Mariposa and on Miami Mountain Road in Fish Camp. • There was a disabled vehicle reported on Ahwahnee Street in Mariposa. • A large cow was reported on Highway 49 South in Mariposa. • There was an injured deer on Carleton Road in Mariposa. • Fraud was reported on Highway 49 in Mariposa. • There was a possible burglary on Ferry Road in Coulterville. • Shooting was heard in the area on Dogtown Road in Greeley Hill. • There was a possible DUI reported northbound on Highway South in Mariposa. • An arching power line was reported on Jessie Street in Mariposa. • Petty theft of mail was reported on Highway 140 in Catheys Valley. • Threats were reported on Hospital Road in Mariposa. • Someone had a burning complaint on Quail Ridge Drive in Mariposa and a burn pile reported on Blanchard Road in Coulterville.

The above listed calls are actual reports to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office dispatch. These are just a sampling of recent calls, but are in no way all inclusive. The intent of this log is to demonstrate the wide array of issues with which Mariposa County law enforcement must deal, in addition to investigation of serious crimes and their routine patrol.
