With local grass and other fuels drying out, local CAL FIRE officials have announced that burn permits will soon be required for all hazard-reduction burning on private lands.
As of Monday, debris burning is limited to valid permit holders on approved burn days only, Madera- Mariposa-Merced Unit Chief Nancy Koerperich said this week.
While restrictions tighten next week, Koerperich also reminded property owners that “now is the time to work on 100-foot defensible space around your home.
