Native American rights focus of recent decision by Supreme Court


Anita Starchman-BryantAt the end of May 2019, the Supreme Court of the United States issued an opinion recognizing Native American rights. The case, Herrera v. Wyoming, was decided by five justices in favor and four justices opposed. The decision was written for the majority by Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor. The Court upheld the Crow Tribe’s hunting rights in unoccupied territory in Wyoming.
