The Mariposa County Arts Council’s Music on the Green continues free summer concerts this weekend.
The band The High Country Chimes will be featured on Friday, July 1, and The Soul Galaxy will perform on Saturday, July 2.
The High Country Chimes are based out of Tuolumne County and embrace California’s acoustic folk revival sound. The group features a variety of vocals, acoustic guitars and Mariposa’s own Jared Jesperson on mandolin.
On July 2, one of Mariposa’s best-loved bands, The Soul Galaxy, will take the stage. They’re a hard-hitting blues rock trio featuring guitar master Tim Hager, former Los Angeles studio drummer,
Jon Kidd, and from the central valley, Charles Green on electric bass.
A complete schedule of the talent performing throughout this summer season can be found at www.mariposaartscouncil.org/music-on-the-green. Tips for the performers will be solicited at the event. All performances begin at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) at the Mariposa County Arts Park, located on Highway 140 between 4th and 5th Streets in downtown Mariposa. Parking is available along the lower 5th Street parking lot and it provides an accessible pedestrian path to the Arts Park through the Mariposa Creek Parkway entry.
The Arts Council is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County and is supported in part by the County of Mariposa, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency and the California Arts Council, a state agency.
