Markers honor Braden Varney

Somewhere in the mountains of Mariposa, there is a roadside marker which has been placed in the name of CAL FIRE heavy equipment operator Braden Varney. Braden’s life was abruptly taken on July 14 while he battled the Ferguson Fire.
This “gentle giant” is held in high esteem not only for his dedication to fire control, but as a truly kind and caring person in our community.
