Lou Jean Elizabeth Bogusch joined our Lord in the early morning hours of the first day of spring, March 20, 2021.
Lou Jean was born Nov. 8, 1930 to Charles and Josephine (Boberg) Schooler of Tipton, Kan. The family moved to California before Lou Jean was school age and she grew up in the hills of Alameda County, California. It was here in the Bay Area that she met and married her husband, William Harry Bogusch. Together they raised a large Catholic family, eight children, three boys and five girls. Lou Jean is survived by four of her beautiful daughters, her eldest son and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lou Jean was ever an entrepreneur, owning and operating multiple businesses throughout her many years. Her fondest business accomplishments were the answering service she ran in California and the residential care facility she built from the ground up in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Jean was undoubtedly a matriarch for her family and encouraged family togetherness. This is especially reflected each year during the Easter holiday when all of the family would gather to celebrate this season of renewal. Lou Jean loved God and gardening and with the abundance of flowering trees, shrubs, bulbs and the like, Easter and springtime were her favorite.
Fittingly, services will be held this weekend to celebrate, honor and give thanks to this special woman. A viewing and prayer will be held Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at the Mariposa Funeral Home, 4918 9th Street.
