Linda Turgeon

Linda Christine Turgeon was born Sept. 9, 1948 in San Mateo County. She was born to Phillip and Nellie Turgeon of Half Moon Bay, Calif.

She passed away Oct. 14, 2017.

Linda was the eldest of nine children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, Terry, Willie and Patrick Turgeon; sister, Pricilla Verceles; and grandchild Zachary Turgeon.

Linda grew up in Half Moon Bay and moved to Mariposa in 1995. Upon arriving in Mariposa she was one of the first managers at the Coakley Circle Apartments. She enjoyed helping others get established in their homes and was a constant support to her tenants.

Linda had a great love for animals and spent many years volunteering for the Mariposa ASPCA. She spent countless hours volunteering for their yard sale, caring for and fostering animals. There were many times when an animal was thought to not make it and she would foster them back to health and into a forever home.

She had an amazing green thumb and loved to spend time in her garden. She took pride in her many roses and other plants.

Linda’s other great love included her children and grandchildren. Over the years she adopted many other locals as surrogate children and loved watching them and their children grow. Many Mariposans referred to Linda as “Mom” or “Grandma.”

She is survived by her mother, Nellie Turgeon; children Todd Turgeon, Tony Turgeon, Jessica Briese and Frank Monroy of Mariposa; and brothers Philip Turgeon, Jeff Turgeon and sister Susan Turgeon. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Willie Turgeon, Monique Turgeon, Kaitlyn Monroy and Aidyn Monroy.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to Mariposa ASPCA in her name.

The family welcomes you to join them in a celebration of life on Jan. 6, 2018 at Bootjack Fish and Game from 1-3 p.m.
