Lake Fire scorches about 244 acres, 60 percent contained

Crews battled a wildfire in extreme northeastern Mariposa County this week.
The fire broke out shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, July 8, near the McSwain entrance road of Lake McClure Road, according to CAL FIRE. The rural area is a Hornitos address.
It was called the Lake Fire.
As of Tuesday morning, the blaze had scorched 244 acres and was 60 percent contained. It was mainly burning in grassy areas, according to CAL FIRE.
