Defense shuts down Waterford on hardwood, then stymies Gustine

What was supposed to be a clash of titans in the Southern League turned out to be a comfortable win for the Mariposa County High School girls basketball team.

MCHS defeated Waterford 44-36 on Tuesday night, on the road. The Grizzlies jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one-quarter of play and never looked back, with balanced scoring pacing them the entire way.

Taylor Vegely led MCHS with 12 points and Alex Williams posted 10 points. Milea Appling notched 9 points for MCHS.
