Jess McCoy



Jess Allen McCoy, 44 of Mariposa, passed away into glory on Oct. 23, 2021.

Jess was born on Jan. 19, 1977, to Arthur Dale McCoy and Linda Ann McCoy.

A celebration of life will be on Nov. 20 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. (Please RSVP or by email to as we will be catering and need a headcount.)

Jess had a relationship with Jesus Christ throughout his life. He cared deeply about other people. He lived by: “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” His goal in life was to love others and through this show them God’s love.

He was a FFA honorary member, AYSO soccer regional commissioner, coach, referee, board member and trainer for more than 20 years. He also went on mission trips to Mexico. He was a licensed ordained minister, taught Sunday school, youth group, preached, was on the worship team, served as an elder and did theatrical dramas with youth groups.

Jess worked in construction until he settled into a 22-1/2 year career with Caltrans.

When Jess wasn’t working, his hobbies included camping, hunting, going to Yosemite, practicing shooting, four wheeling, making knives. He was a member of the local militia. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Everyone knew he was happiest when all his girls were visiting home.

Jess is survived by his wife, Joyce, to whom he was married for 26 years; daughters, Clestina, Faith, Hope, Patience, Eden and Laura and his sons-in-law Jerad, Toney, Bryce and Justin; grandbabies, Ruth, Joshie, Annabell, Bella, Troy, Noelle, Claire and a baby girl on the way; two nephews, Isaac and Caleb; siblings James, Mike, Janette, Cheryl and Ronnie; and his mother; Linda McCoy.
