Invoice falls through cracks and County coughs up $90,000

No officials in government knew about it


A $90,000 bill for fire suppression from the U. S. Forest Service that fell through the cracks resulted in Mariposa County having no recourse but to pay up.
The board of supervisors instructed staff to pay it during its weekly meeting Jan. 5.
It was a hard pill to swallow for supervisors, because sometimes similar bills don’t have to be recompensed if they are dealt with in a swift manner.
The invoice at hand wasn’t.
