A recent article in the Gazette “Give Me Shelter” was revelatory. Affordable housing, or the lack thereof, has been a subject of conversation since I arrived in the area seven years ago. I can only assume that it has been ongoing longer than that. The bugaboo was always “regulations,” excessive governmental oversight making it impossible for developers to effectively build low income housing in the community. So nothing is being built for this segment of the population.
