Rocky Shaver (center), a homeless man who lives in Mariposa, lost his home during the Detwiler Fire. Shaver said the homeless population wants to better themselves and need assistance to get to that point.
There’s little doubt the issue of homelessness strikes a nerve with the public.
That was on full display on Monday at a special meeting of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors.
The meeting was called because of a health emergency which was declared by the county health officer.
