Group wants TOT raised to help housing within County

Paperwork filed to get measure on the November election ballot

A local group of people is attempting to get an initiative on the November ballot to deal with the housing crunch in Mariposa County.
“I think momentum is on our side,” said Jim Evans, who filed the formal petition with the County.
The petition, if placed on the ballot, would ask residents to approve a 1/2 percent increase in the Transient Occupant Tax (TOT) in Mariposa County. TOT is the taxes collected for rental of rooms, vacation homes and other tourism-related rentals in the County.
