Genevieve Zoe Kleiman, 95, passed away in Merced on Nov. 13, 2018.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mariposa. Rev. Michael Cox will officiate.
Gen was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Leslie and Madeline (Becker) Rowland on May 22, 1923. She attended elementary and high school in Sioux Falls and graduated from Nettleton Commercial College.
She worked as an executive secretary for the Aircraft Industries Association, Federal Signal Corporation, The Broadway Department Stores and, in later years, as an accountant for the Idle Wheels Mobile Home Corporation.
Gen had multiple talents and interests. She loved music and as a young woman played the piano and organ professionally. She especially enjoyed camping in Yosemite and an occasional adventure like white-water rafting or a hot-air balloon ride on the American River with friends.
She loved her pets, doing needlepoint embroidery and watching old movies from her extensive film collection.
Gen will be remembered for her humor and adventurous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Madeline Rowland; brother, James Leslie Rowland; and daughter, Pamela Lee Kleiman.
