Geneva Callegari-Loyd

Geneva Louise Callegari-Loyd passed away on May 27, 2020 at the age of 92.

Geneva is survived by her children, Corliss Meyer, Dennis Callegari, Donna Madsen, Connie Hunt and John Thomas Callegari. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, many relatives and long standing friends. Geneva was preceded in death by husbands Richard

Callegari and Allen “Shorty” Loyd.

The essence of Geneva was that she was an illumination of Agape love. Her love for life and all God’s people and animals transcended the generational ages and time itself. Knowing Geneva, our beloved mother, was a precious gift. She was also known as “Mums” and “Momma Gene” to family and friends. Her love and care for others spanned the widest dimensions of the universe and the deepest inner reaches of our souls. Her influential wisdom, humor, kindness and humility knew no boundaries.

Geneva the woman and lady was a stellar representation of the “greatest generation.” She was our familiar “Rock of Gibraltar” overcoming life’s adversities by having a moral and ethical character and principled Christian faith and philosophy.

Geneva was an excellent wife and mother. She was a long time resident of Mariposa and worked many years as an LVN at John C. Fremont Hospital. Upon receiving her nursing degree, she worked at the hospital and was also assigned to ride in the ambulance as one of the original first responders. She was an avid reader and published author in the field of poetry.

Knowing our mother, she would have preferred an obituary that arises not from loss and sadness, but rather from love, joy and gratitude to all.

Our beloved mother and ultimate friend is rejoicing in Heaven as one of our Lord’s chosen and newest angels. We love you and thank you for the life and love you gave us.

Jean was such a highly regarded and respected LVN on the Ewing Wing at John C Fremont Rural Healthcare District in our town of Mariposa, CA..

I was a brand new, green grad RN when I was hired on there way back in the mid- 90’s and Jean very carefully and meticulously guided me through those early years. There was something very professional, kind, patient and special about her quiet demeanor as she very efficiently moved through her days on “The Wing”. She never became flustered under any circumstance. She had my full respect and admiration.

We became friends outside of work as well and I spent time at her home on some of my days off.

My heart and prayers go out to Jean’s entire extended family as they move through the transition of Jean being lovingly close to them physically… to her leaving them for her heavenly home… where I hope to meet back up with her one day in the future. I am so very glad that she lived such a respected, long and beloved life. What a very beautiful legacy. Well done, Jean!
