Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is the topic of a talk scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mariposa.
The event is sponsored by the church’s Pax Christi group. Pax Christi, or Christian peace in Latin, “works toward a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,” according to the group’s Web site.
Fracking uses a mixture of water and chemicals injected into the ground under high pressure to squeeze oil from the ground.
