Firefighters continue monitoring fires in Sierra National Forest and Yosemite area

Officials from the Sierra National Forest say a week of hard work has paid off when it comes to a fire burning in a remote area.
The Trimmer Fire is now 90 percent contained, according to forest officials.
The fire began on Aug. 3, officials said, and by Aug. 9 had burned 600 acres. A total of 304 personnel were assigned to the blaze, which is located near Big Creek and Trimmer Springs Road.
No structures were destroyed in the blaze though Avocado Lake County Park remains closed.
