Thankfully, for many at least, the 2020 general election is happening next week.
The election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 3 and is expected to bring a high turnout not only in Mariposa County but across the nation.
Locally, there is one contested race which is for a seat on the school board.
In addition, voters will cast ballots on Measure N, the sales tax increase proposal with the funds going toward the construction of a new hospital in Mariposa. State law requires hospitals to meet earthquake standards by 2030.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day, though many people in the county have already cast their ballots. Mariposa County is an all-mail-in county with options for voters to go to the polls before and on election day.
Because the election is on a Tuesday, results for the election will not be printed in this newspaper until the following week.
However, we will have results the night of election and those will be posted on our website at www.mariposagazette.com as well as on our Facebook page.
