‘Drug driving’ spikes in 2015 crime stats

Most categories remain stagnant, some decrease

Most categories in the County’s preliminary 2015 crime statistics report released Monday by Mariposa County Sheriff Doug Binnewies saw no significant increase, except for driving under the influence, which more than doubled.
“We’ve seen a large increase in ‘drug driving,’ involving marijuana, meth and poly drug use,” said Binnewies. The total DUI cases for 2015 hit 70, doubling the 35 listed for 2014.
