New law would make fines, jail time possible

Citizen-operated drones can slow down responses to wildland fires, and endanger firefighters, residents and property, according to CAL FIRE.In late June, the Corrine Fire in Madera County was gobbling up acres of dry vegetation and taxing firefighters who were also dealing with hot temperatures.
To help stop the fire, CAL FIRE called in helicopters and airtankers to drop water and retardant on the fire, which burned more than 900 acres.
