Health officers fear spread of disease to extended family

Although Covid-19 trends are showing the slightest glimpse of a downward trend, cases are still prevalent with children of Mariposa County, shutting down the El Portal Elementary School on Monday.

Of the positive cases reported last month, 42 percent were in youth under 17 years old. The school clusters are occurring within households, reported Dr. Eric Sergienko the Mariposa County health officer, leading into the schools, like El Portal Elementary School within the last seven days.
