In a surprise move on Tuesday, Mariposa County District Attorney Thomas Cooke announced he will not seek reelection.
Cooke made the announcement during a meeting of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors. He will serve out the remainder of his term through 2018.
“It is best for me not to seek reelection,” said Cooke, who added it was a “difficult process” in making the decision.
