Citizenship issue forces Chappell to step down from school board position

The excitement revolving around the appointment of a new Mariposa County Unified School District board member has quickly faded.
The district received the resignation of Doug Chappell, the recent provisional appointee for District 1, on July 4. Chappell voluntarily resigned following additional information provided him that prerequisites for becoming a board trustee are being a registered voter and a U.S. citizen.
