The annual Merry Mountain Christmas Parade is set for this Saturday in Mariposa.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will proceed down Highway 140. The theme this year is “Christmas Carols.”
Following the parade, there will be the annual Lion’s Club tree lighting ceremony at the courthouse. At that event, there will also be free cocoa, hot dogs, popcorn and a bonfire.
Photos with Santa will be featured and there will be gifts given out by Sierra Tel.
There are many other Christmas related activities happening in the area, as well.
• Yosemite Holiday Craft Bazaar featuring local artists and vendors. It is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Half Dome Village in Yosemite National Park. All proceeds from the event go to help fund child care centers in the park.
• The 23rd annual hayride and bon fire will be held at Triangle Market on Saturday, Dec. 15. It will be from 4-5 p.m. and features not only a hayride, but free marshmallows to roast as well as hot chocolate.
Santa will also be on hand and persons are encouraged to bring their children and pets.
• The Mariposa Museum and History Center Christmas Open House is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 16. It will be from 1-4 p.m. at the museum.
Santa will also be at this event and the gift shop will be open for holiday shopping. Santa will be there from 1-3:30 p.m.
The stamp mill will be running at 2 p.m. There will also be cookies and hot cider available.
The museum is located at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa.
• The 17th Festive Holiday Concert by the Mariposa Symphony Orchestra is set for Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Fiester Auditorium at Mariposa County High School.
It is presented by the Mariposa County Arts Council. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Arts council members get a reduced rate. Call (209) 966-3155 for more information.
