On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, a remarkable woman, Carolyn Taggart, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 80.
Carolyn was born in Salinas, Calif., on Aug. 10, 1939, to Lewis and Doris (Plumber) Jones. An excellent student, she graduated from Gonzales High School on May 15, 1957, and married Jim C. Taggart May 2, 1959. They raised two sons, Tim and Martin.
What made her remarkable was her love of family and friends, and her ability to make the best of everything. Mom was an avid reader, ferocious bridge player, enjoyed travel and absolutely loved to dance. Mom was gracious, loving, supportive and loved to lead with a memorable smile.
She worked for the Mariposa County Unified School District for many years; enjoying the students, the teachers and the camaraderie.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; father, Lewis; brother, Ken; niece, Krystal; and son, Tim. She is survived by her mother Doris; brother, Art; son Martin; granddaughters Caroline and Catherine; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends too numerable to count.
A memorial service to be held in Mariposa will be announced as soon as public gatherings are allowed.
