Mariposa County residents and visitors alike cannot say there’s nothing to do this weekend.
In fact, it might be the fullest weekend of the year with events of all sorts around the county.
A major event for art lovers is the annual Sierra Art Trails, which is in its 17th year. The event runs Friday through Sunday, Oct. 4-7. The cost is $20 for two adults to take the self-guided tour.
That tour takes visitors to various artists’ homes and studios in Mariposa and Madera counties. Tickets can be purchased online at sierraarttrails.org, by calling (559) 658-8844 or by email at email@example.com.
This Saturday, Oct. 5, is the 30th annual Mariposa Home and Garden Show at the fairgrounds in Mariposa. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is free and will feature all things about remodeling, construction and other matters relevant to homes and gardens. The U.C. Master Gardeners will be on hand during the day to answer various questions.
In addition, the Mariposa Friends of the Fairgrounds Flea Market the same day at the fairgrounds. That event is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a wide variety of merchandise.

Also Saturday is the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1261 Young Eagles Rally.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mariposa-Yosemite Airport north of Mariposa on Highway 49 North. There will be free airplane rides for youth ages 8-17 with parent/legal guardian approval and signatures. Call (209) 966-2143 for more information.
On Sunday, Oct. 6, the granddaddy of all flea markets is all set in Hornitos.
The 33rd annual Hornitos Patrons Club Flea Market will be held in historic Hornitos. It starts at 7:30 a.m. and runs through 3:30 p.m. at Hornitos Park.
The flea market is always a major event in Mariposa County and people are encouraged to go early and enjoy breakfast. There will also be food vendors at the flea market throughout the day.
