Ballasch back in court after a finding by CDC

The man serving 27 years for nearly killing a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office deputy was back in court this week.

Brian Ballasch, 38, Merced, is serving the sentence in state prison but an error in some of the charges prompted him to be brought back to court.

Mariposa County District Attorney Thomas Cooke said the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDC) found miscalculations in the “enhancement” charges against Ballasch.
