A ‘SAFE’ bet: program works to help those with special health needs during disasters



 A special program has been developed to identify the needs of county residents in the event of an emergency or disaster.
The SAFE program (Support and Aid For Everyone) offers assistance in a variety of ways when a disaster breaks out.
“It identifies individuals in the county whose health or medical needs could be impacted in a disaster,” said Marti Fazio, public health nurse and SAFE program coordinator. “The big one that is in our mind is fire.”
