McNally hangs it up

Mariposa head varsity football coach J.C. McNally has stepped down, laying down his clipboard after many years on local football fields. "This was a tough decision, but I don't think it would have been any easier next year," McNally said Monday evening. "I feel really bad about leaving some of these players. I've been preaching dedication for years, and then I step away. But it's just time."

Bound for playoffs as top SAL seed


With last week's two Southern Athletic League wins over Le Grand and Waterford, Mariposa's varsity baseball team clinched the Southern Athletic League championship, and will advance to the Sac-Joaquin Division VI baseball playoffs next week.

Soccer gals' playoff hopes dashed

The Mariposa County High School varsity girls' soccer team's worst fear was realized Monday afternoon when Denair upended Le Grand in a Southern Athletic League make-up match that left the Lady Grizzlies out of the playoffs.
Denair won that contest, 3-1, to take second place in league play and make Mariposa's Tuesday afternoon SAL victory over Turlock Christian meaningless in the final standings

If Mariposa's junior varsity baseball team downed Turlock Christian Wednesday afternoon, as it has done in the two prior contests, Friday afternoon the Grizzlies will host Denair in a battle for the Southern Athletic League pennant.
