Detwiler Fire victims can get $2,500 in cash relief

People impacted by the Detwiler Fire can apply for financial assistance thanks to an outpouring of donations from the local community.

The Mariposa Community Foundation has raised more than $100,000, according to Marilyn Saunders, who heads the foundation.

Saunders said more money is coming in on a regular basis. In addition, it is possible more outside funding could become available but the amount has yet to be determined.

Anyone who had their house destroyed, whether they owned or rented the residence, is eligible for $2,500 in immediate relief, according to Saunders.

To get the funds, persons can apply through the foundation at mariposacommunity.foundation.

Persons who have not submitted an application can contact the foundation at 966-2000 and ask to speak to someone about the Detwiler Fire.

“On behalf of the Detwiler Fire survivors, the board of directors of the foundation appreciates the generosity of the donors to this fund,” said Saunders.
