Man dies after wreck early Sunday on Silva

Alcohol is suspected after a Mariposa man was ejected from his vehicle and died this past weekend.

According to the California Highway Patrol, William Christopher Lawrence, 37, was killed in the incident.

At around 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, the CHP said dispatchers received a call of a traffic collision, with no details given, at Silva Road and Goin’s Way.

According to the CHP, a red 2005 Saab being driven by Lawrence was traveling westbound on Silva Road when it went off the roadway and onto the north shoulder.

The vehicle collided with a large boulder and overturned several times. Lawrence was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Shannon Nutt, 39, Mariposa, was transported to John C. Fremont Hospital for minor injuries.

The CHP said the cause of the wreck remains under investigation, however, alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Corner reported that my brother had NO alcohol in his system at the time of the accident! And the fact that you guys can post this story several days after his accident without checking your facts extremely upset my family!! There needs to be a retraction done on this very quickly

My brother was not drunk or drinking when this happened. We are going through enough pain, that we do not need any one saying false statements about our loved one who is gone to early. His blood work has already came back and there was no alcohol in his system. If you are going to write something about something so tragic or anything else for that matter you should get your facts straight.
