Arlee Chambers

Arlee Eugene Ralph Chambers (Gene) was born in San Bernardino, Calif., on Dec. 11, 1932, the fifth child of John Russell and Francis Irene Wattling Chambers. He died Nov. 2, 2016 at home in Oak Harbor, Wash.

He married Elizabeth Dorothey Litke on Aug. 29, 1954.

During his working years he earned distinction as master mechanic at American

Metal and Bearing Corporation, Los Angeles; owned “Arlee’s Sales and Service,” his appliance repair shop in West Covina, Calif.; was a mechanic at Tavis Corporation in Mariposa; and was a bus driver who gave tours in Yosemite National Park. He completed his career at CertainTeed Corporation in Chowchilla, Calif.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank and Russell Chambers, his sisters Marjorie Irene Kunzweiler and Mary Alice Green, and granddaughter Jaci Burns. His brother Edward Chambers passed in December 2016.

Gene is survived by his sister Ellen Jane Chambers, of Loma Linda, Calif.; his wife Betty Chambers, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four children and their spouses, Gene and Ronda Chambers, of Mariposa, Pam and John Burns, of Turlock, Calif, Marj and Rob Lauritzen, of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Brian Chambers, of Represa, Calif.

Surviving grandchildren, their spouses and great-grandchildren are: Jason and Payia Chambers with Auston and Alyssa of Atwater, Calif.; Jenny Chambers, of Lincoln, Neb.; Sarah and Chuck Martin, of Mesa, Ariz.; Olivia Lauritzen of Oak Harbor, Wash.; Alexis and AJ Verdugo with Teagan, of Mariposa, Samantha Chambers and Bradley Chambers of Mariposa; Haley Chambers of California; and Zachary Chambers, California. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene loved being with family and family reunions. Many times his siblings and spouses gathered at different getaway locations, having fun sightseeing and playing games, along with good grub. His absolute favorite thing to eat was a milkshake, he loved them!

Services will be June 9 at, 10 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash., followed by a Celebration of Life in Oak Harbor.
